The journey that lead to Expect Referrals


The staff at Expect Referrals have over 30 years of combined experience in marketing. Most of us started with direct mail, the first truly trackable form of marketing. Then, email entered the picture making trackable direct marketing a thousand times more affordable and faster to produce. Then, we brought social media into the mix as we figured out how to leverage the conversations that occurred on Facebook and Twitter and then Google+ and Pinterest to maximizing exposure and of course, generating leads and hopefully, sales.

One day, back in early 2010, a few of us thought about referrals and word of mouth marketing and wondered why more businesses weren't focusing on referrals. So, we tried to do one for a client. It was practically impossible to keep up with all the transactions. It took up too much time and the effort did not equal the reward. We thought, if there was a systemized way to automate, manage and track a referral program, the effort would be eliminated and only the reward would be left. And that is how the idea of Expect Referrals was born.

As the power of social media grew and social sharing became as natural as eating breakfast, we knew we had stumbled on something truly awesome that will help hundreds of thousands of small businesses grow. Around here we say, "If Facebook, Groupon and Constant Contact had a baby, it would be Expect Referrals." That is because we took the best of social media, group couponing and email marketing and merged them together so you can get the word out about your business, a deal you have on your product or your event.
